Every item in GemJam has standard fields: title, SKU, acquisition date and price, listing price, status, description, condition, location, category, HS code, and country of origin. Beyond these, you create custom templates with fields tailored to each type of stock. A hallmarked jewellery template might include assay office, fineness mark, date letter, and sponsor’s mark. A designer handbag template might track brand, model, serial number, and authentication details. A vintage watch template might record movement type, case material, and service history. You choose what to track for each category — as broad or as specific as you need.

You enter a listing price for each item — the amount you’d accept if there were no fees or commission. GemJam then calculates the price you’d need to list at on each selling channel (Shopify, 1stDibs, in-person card sales, your own website) to make the same profit after that channel’s fees. You configure the fee structure for each channel once in settings, and GemJam does the maths on every item automatically.

GemJam tracks the VAT status of every purchase automatically. When you buy from a private individual or non-VAT-registered seller, the item is flagged as Margin Scheme eligible. When sold, GemJam calculates VAT at 1/6 of the profit margin rather than the full selling price. It generates HMRC-compliant reports including the Stock Book, VAT Return Report, and dual invoice formats.

Yes. You can import items from Shopify, upload a spreadsheet (CSV or Excel), or add items individually. Each piece gets its own record with photos, purchase history, and your custom template fields. Most dealers are up and running within a day.

Yes. GemJam pushes your listings directly to Shopify, including photos, descriptions, and pricing. When an item sells on Shopify, GemJam automatically updates your inventory and records the sale. eBay integration is coming soon.
